What are the Cellular and Bluetooth® Modes for my Moxee Signal, and how are they different? Follow
Your Moxee Signal works in two modes to ensure connectivity and to help maximize battery life. In Bluetooth® Mode, your Moxee Signal works while paired to your smartphone. In Cellular Mode, your Moxee Signal connects to your cellular carrier service without needing a phone. Bluetooth Mode will result in the best battery life.
The Connection LED on the Moxee Signal shows which mode is being used. When the Connection LED is blue, the Moxee Signal is in Bluetooth Mode. When the Connection LED is green, the Moxee Signal is in Cellular Mode.
When connected by Bluetooth, the Moxee Signal uses that Bluetooth connection to have the Moxee App on your smartphone to start your Check-ins or Alerts. If a Yellow or Red Alert is active, your Moxee Signal's microphone and your smartphone's microphone, location services, and cellular data are used to send your location data and audio of your surroundings. When no alert is active, Bluetooth Mode uses very little phone battery and gives your Moxee Signal battery life up to 30 days in standby mode.
In Cellular Mode, the Moxee Signal uses your carrier’s LTE network for its connection. During an alert in Cellular Mode, the Moxee Signal's microphone, location data, and LTE data connection are used. Cellular Mode never uses your smartphone's battery and gives your Moxee Signal battery life up to 7 days in standby mode.
